AICL are looking to recruit a new member of staff to their busy actuarial team. 

The successful candidate can expect to be involved with and taking responsibility for…

  • Testing and implementing updates of AICL products
  • Analysing the underwriting performance of AICL products
  • Reconciling actuarial data to other data sources
  • Fulfilling requests for ad hoc reporting
  • Producing and analysing reserving triangles
  • Taking ownership of current processes and improving them

Excellent communication skills are a must as the role involves working with other departments across the Group and also with third parties.

The role will involve heavy use of IT and the ideal candidate will already be an advanced user of both SQL and Excel, including familiarity with VBA macros. They will also have excellent attention to detail, an ability to prioritise their own workload and be a quick learner.

Role Responsibility

The primary tasks of the role are:

  • Involvement in all aspects of the Team’s actuarial work including pricing, reserving and solvency II reporting
  • Attend meetings with underwriters and internal customers, including Claims Team, IT and Finance
  • Develop and produce management information
  • Monitor the sales and underwriting performance of insurance products
  • Recommend changes to net rating structures in order to achieve target return
  • Assist in testing and sign off of product and rate changes
  • Become proficient in Resq and Emblem and use where appropriate in developing recommendations

 

The Ideal Candidate

  • Understanding of insurance products and underwriting performance
  • Understand pricing and reserving techniques
  • Ability to analyse data and produce reports and recommendations
  • Motivated to deliver quality results to required deadlines
  • Competence in working in an Actuarial / MI department
  • Familiarity with general insurance pricing processes and methodologies
  • Excellent Excel skill
  • Knowledge of SQL Server, Resq and Emblem or similar systems would be advantageous
  • High quality graduate calibre
  • High quality degree in mathematics or similar
