Advertising Sales and Account Executive

This role is an important part of the London-based (within walking distance to St Pancras International) publishing team who are responsible for selling display advertising across digital and Saga Magazine, delivering revenues in line with advertising and commercial targets.

You will be working in a multi-channel sales role. It involves selling display advertising and developing commercial partnerships, delivering advertising and partnership solutions across print, digital, social, mobile and experimental channels.

You will bring your experience of multi-channel advertising sales techniques to build successful long-term relationships with major consumer brands and agencies, translating relationships into advertising sales.

Role Responsibility

  • Work directly with clients and through agencies to sell both print and online advertising space for the Saga Magazine. Integral to this is the ability to develop exceptional relationships via face to face and phone to construct sales arguments and create compelling proposals.
  • Work closely with the Advertising team to deliver commercial targets across multi-channel platforms, deliver forward sales and identify strategic opportunities to grow advertising revenues.
  • Develop excellent internal relationships to work closely with the Saga Magazine editorial team and Possibilities Membership team to identify tactical opportunities to enhance partnership and revenue opportunities.
  • Deliver a comprehensive advertising administration process by monitoring and reporting sales performance, identifying growth opportunities and maintaining up to date CRM systems and booking information.
  • Work closely with external partners and internal departments to ensure advertising commitments and flat planning are all delivered to specification and deadline.
  • Acquire a thorough knowledge of the Saga marketplace and other associated/competing titles in the marketplace and develop an awareness of the competitor landscape.

The Ideal Candidate

Capability, Knowledge and Experience:

  • Good multi-channel advertising sales experience in a magazine publishing environment.
  • Intelligent, team focused, and a quick learner, with excellent sales skills (presenting, negotiating and finishing), who can develop relationships and hold informed conversations with clients and agencies.
  • Proactive and driven, good at presenting, managing relationships and opening doors with major brands.
  • Good agency and client contacts, with good sales skills across pitching and negotiating, and a willingness to develop relationships with major consumer brands.
  • Proven ability to use insights and data to build evidence-based sales and commercial approaches, and translate those into sales tactics and plans, along with excellent data analysis skills.
  • Experience in sales and commercial forecasting, monitoring and reporting on sales targets.
  • Experience of industry tools (TGI, NRS) to develop insights and commercial strategies.
  • A creative thinker who enjoys generating and exploring new ideas, and delivering stand-out campaigns that exceed client and agency expectations
     

Education and Qualifications:

  • Ideally educated to A-level or business equivalent

  • Strong sales skills with engaging and persuasive personality
  • Ability to think creatively, strategically and identify and resolve problems
  • Ability to foster strong relationships with clients and colleagues
  • Attention to detail and the ability to effectively multi-task in a deadline driven atmosphere
  • Ability to clearly and effectively articulate thoughts and points
  • High levels of integrity, autonomy, creativity and self-motivation
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, project management and time management skills

Package Description

Starting salary of £26,000 - £34, 000 and there is opportunity to earn commission in this role.
