** At Saga we’re  flexible which means our colleagues have  autonomy over where they work – home, hybrid or hub. This role has a hybrid element which means our team come together when we need to collaborate.This role requires 2-3 days per week in our Ashford hub office. **

As an Application Developer (Smartcomm) at Saga Cruises, you will be playing a vital role in delivering large scale and interesting projects for the business, alongside a supportive and highly experienced  team, to help deliver exceptional experiences every day for our guests. 

You would be part of an Agile team, attending the daily stand ups, participating in sprint planning and refinement sessions, sharing your technical perspective to collaboratively shape the direction of the projects and solutions that enhance user experience. 

 You would be developing and presenting solutions, all while keeping a watchful eye on monitoring the health of customer facing systems. 

You will be part of our exciting journey, in redefining our digital architecture and customer communications management (CCM) processes to build a new best-in-class digital experience. Aligned closely to our business colleagues in marketing and guest experience, our collective objectives are to drive efficiencies in our ways of working, removing duplication of effort to fuel the curiosity of what’s achievable for our colleagues and guests.

Role Responsibility

  • Helping to deliver the design, build and modification of new and existing software solutions, specifically Smartcomms document platform to deliver against the business needs and requirements. Ability to adapt and deliver with precision and pace. 
  •  Working collaboratively with other colleagues across Saga’s Cruise and business community to deliver technology programs, projects and workstreams.
  • Establishing and maintaining a good working relationship with internal and external teams.  
  • Participating within regular sprint planning and supporting the team to plan and estimate the project deliverables. 
  •  Developing documents and templates to support the cruise digital transformation. 
  •  Working closely with the UAT team to help troubleshoot and support testing of your tickets.
  •  Producing and maintaining technical documentation.

 

The Ideal Candidate

People Skills: 

  •  A team player with a positive, proactive attitude
  •  An inquisitiveness to learn and develop your skills 
  •   Logical thinking and problem solving capability 

Technical Skills: 

  •  Experience with SmartCOMM customer communications management (CCM) OR a similar software solution
  • Understanding of SmartCOMM concepts & development lifecycle; templates, layouts, stylesheets, data mode 
  • Good knowledge of the following SmartCOMM modules; Data Modeler, Advanced Template Designer, Template Editor
  • Knowledge of relational data models 

Bonus Technical skills: 

  •    Knowledge of JIRA or other ticketing systems 
  •   An understanding of Agile development and other methodologies 
  • Ability to learn new technologies 

Package Description

  • Competitive salary up to £45,000
  • 35 hours per week (9am-5pm, Monday through Friday)
