Commercial Optimisation Manager

With the rapidly developing landscape of automation and AI technology, this individual will be at the front edge of this for Saga Travel Group, understanding how we can utilise these new tools to improve the commercial performance of the business.

A commercially astute individual who deliver’s insight to the broader Commercial Team, to ensure the delivery of optimum revenue, volumes and margins.

Role Responsibility

  • Become the SME for the Revenue Management tool (Alytic), driving forward data validation, future system development, in house training etc.
  • Analyse the data within Alytic with a view to highlighting recommended focus areas and targets for the business, setting success criteria and articulating learnings.
  • Analyse weekly, monthly, booking data to report on trading performance activities, to then collate & deliver trading updates to the business.
  • Play a key role in the annual 5-year plan process working with Finance, Commercial and Product to help set the plan for the key metrics (Customers, Revenue, Margin) by region.
  • Produce monthly Customer, Revenue and Margin targets for each of the areas to share with the wider business.
  • Support the Revenue & Product managers with data insight at the micro level.
  • Review, track and analyse the market in terms of trends and competitor activity sharing insights with the business to ensure the trading plans are optimised.
  • Lead STGs understanding of automation and AI technology which can enable us to improve our commercial performance. Make recommendations to the business on products which will support this.
  • Co-ordinate the quarterly forecast process by Tour and departure month across the commercial team to ensure optimal capacity, price, margin mix and challenge commercial assumptions.
  • Collaborate with other Group functions (e.g., Marketing, Sales etc) to share data and insights that can lead to meaningful action.
  • Work closely with the Product team to provide robust and insightful data in preparation for product negotiations.
  • Continuous process improvement, not only for the Revenue Management team, but the use of MI/Data across the group.

The Ideal Candidate

  • An analytical background with excellent knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
  • MI Experience gained in any sector, ideally Travel.
  • A track record of dealing with complex information and then providing detailed insights from large amounts of data.
  • Experience working in similar commercial/financial roles.
