The Saga Conduct Risk Advisory team seeks to safeguard and empower the rest of business to deliver their strategy and operate their functions in a compliant and risk-focused way. This is achieved by building and nurturing stakeholder relationships and providing accurate, timely and robust regulatory advice and support. 

It is a busy and dynamic team that covers all aspects of conduct regulation for 3 regulated firms, a claims handling company, and 3 Appointed Representatives, so our day-to-day work is varied and interesting with no day being the same!

We are keen to see applications from Conduct Risk/Compliance professionals who have a minimum of 8 years working in compliance for an insurer or insurance intermediary.  This is a Business Partnering / Advisory role, reporting to our Head of Conduct Risk.

** Hybrid working with a monthly visit to our Ashford, Kent or Kings Cross, London hub. You will need to be within a reasonable commuting distance to undertake this role.

Role Responsibility

Working as one of our dedicated Conduct Risk Business Partners, you will be responsible for Insurance Business Conduct Risk. You will be fully accountable for the following areas;

  • Building and managing effective and collaborative relationships with key business stakeholders.
  • Supporting the business in identifying and managing conduct related risks, including implementation of appropriate controls.
  • Providing appropriate, business-focussed advice and recommendations on all relevant areas of regulation.
  • Supporting the business in fostering strong regulatory relationships including timely, accurate regulatory reporting.
  • Acting as a centre of excellence in all aspects of regulatory compliance, developing and providing training.
  • Maintaining an effective horizon scanning framework to keep the business fully informed on regulatory and legislative initiatives.
  • Supporting regulatory change work, led by the first line.
  • Serve as a mentor for to colleagues within the team and wider risk function
  • Contributing to the development of the Conduct Risk Team and the overall Risk function.
  • Always maintaining the highest level of integrity and confidentiality.

The Ideal Candidate

You will be seen as an expert in conduct risk and compliance and have already worked in the Insurance Industry for some time.

You can demonstrate the following skills and experiences;

  • Can independently manage a portfolio of work and balance the demands of maintaining high quality work and delivering to deadlines.
  • Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills and able to take complex issues and communicate them in a simple easily understood way.
  • Have a methodical, analytical, enquiring mind and tenacity, while maintaining objectivity.  
  • A sound knowledge of FCA (and ideally Gibraltar) regulatory requirements and key conduct related priorities within insurance.
  • Quickly gets to grips with understanding unfamiliar businesses, process or products.  Able to logically analyse and assess them.
  • Can challenge and raise your point of view across to senior individuals and can defend it constructively. 
  • Always able to exercises Strong judgement, identifying key issues and suggesting appropriate solutions for them.
  • Fully understands the concepts of risk, controls and materiality and can be proportionate when making decisions.

Desirable;

  • Holds a relevant professional qualification or CII certificate. (Insurance or Regulated Financial Services Operations.)
  • Knowledge of the Gibraltar and Jersey regulations.
