Job Introduction
Saga Holidays is Britain’s most experienced specialist Tour Operator for holidaymakers who are aged 50 years and over.
We are primarily a direct sell, off-peak tour operator, with a varied programme of holidays. These range from Long-Haul, European and UK (Short Haul) tours and resort stays, Ocean & River Cruising, Short Break holidays and Special Interest programmes, such as Walking, Singles, Archaeology, Art Appreciation, Gardens and Music.
Our Holidays business is going through an exciting period of change, and with a new river cruise ship coming in 2021, this is a great time to join!

In this role, you'll be responsible for assisting the Cruise Director to ensure the smooth running of our operations, making sure our customers have an enjoyable and problem free holiday.
You'll bring a travel background with a willingness to learn river cruising. You'll have a professional approach in order to maintain and reflect a high standard of service and customer care.
This role is a fixed term contract until the end of October 2020, although there's a chance your contract could be extended further.
Role Responsibility
- Attend a daily meeting with the Cruise Director for the structure of workload and delegation of tasks to be discussed
- Meet customers at their point of entry and ensure their smooth transfer to and from the ship. Co-ordinate with the Cruise Director and Work from the TDR to ensure all flights are met with transfers
- Liaise with ship staff prior to customers’ arrival to ensure efficient allocation of cabins
- Assist the Cruise Director with hosting a welcome meeting and cocktail party for customers
- Assist the Cruise Director with the promotion, payment, supplier confirmation and guiding (where necessary) of the excursion programmed
- Assist the Cruise Director and on board Entertainer with carrying out a variety of daily events and evening entertainment. Assist with the provision of talks, walks, quizzes, games etc and the preparation of a daily programme to be delivered to passenger cabins
- Host the hospitality desk during specified duty hours, agreed with the Cruise Director, in a regular location on board, in order to respond to all questions, queries and general information for customers
- Leave the ship when required to accompany groups of customers for hotel sections to their holidays. Cover any excursions, transfers etc.
The Ideal Candidate
Capability, Knowledge and Experience:
- Strong overseas travel background with a willingness to learn river cruising
- Knowledge of European Rivers
- Previous customer service experience
- Ability to liaise with suppliers
- Strong presentation skills
- Strong admin skills
- Ability to speak an additional European language would be an advantage
