Data Analyst (Power BI)

Job Introduction

Data Analyst

£40,000 - £45,000 dependent on experience

Folkestone Hybrid

Saga Travel is looking for a Data Analyst to join our growing Data & Analytics team. Working closely with the Senior Data Analyst and partnering with stakeholders across Commercial, Finance and the wider business, you’ll help turn business questions into clear, reliable reporting and actionable insights that support better decision-making.

You’ll work with complex and sometimes imperfect datasets, developing reporting solutions from understanding stakeholder requirements through to building and delivering dashboards. Using tools such as Power BI and SQL, you’ll help ensure that our reporting is accurate, accessible and commercially relevant, translating analysis into meaningful recommendations that support business performance.

Saga Travel is uniquely positioned in the travel market, with rich and distinctive datasets centred around the over-50s demographic. This offers an opportunity to explore interesting data, understand customer and commercial trends, and contribute insights that inform decisions across the business.

As our data estate evolves towards a modern platform, you’ll have the opportunity to strengthen your technical skills, deepen your commercial understanding and develop your stakeholder management capabilities. You’ll be supported through coaching and knowledge-sharing with experienced team members, alongside opportunities for relevant training and professional certifications.

This role requires you to be working from our Folkestone office a minimum of 3 times a week. We have designated office space for colleagues in our Travel business, allowing us to collaborate and share success as a function.

Role Responsibility

As a Data Analyst you will partner with stakeholders across Trading, Finance and the wider business to understand reporting needs, define KPIs, and translate business questions into effective analytics solutions.

Other accountabilities include:

•    Designing, building and maintaining a suite of clear, reliable dashboards and management reports using Power BI.

•    Using SQL and BI tools to conduct ad-hoc analysis that explains business performance and supports data-driven decision making.

•    Interpreting trends and patterns in data, turning analysis into clear insights and recommendations that support trading performance and wider business outcomes.

•    Ensuring the accuracy and quality of reporting by working closely with Data Engineering to identify and resolve data issues.

•    Communicating insights effectively to stakeholders, helping them understand not just what the numbers show, but why they matter and what actions to take.

•    Supporting the adoption of self-serve analytics by providing guidance and training to business users.

•    As our data platform evolves, contributing to improving data models and supporting more advanced analytical approaches such as segmentation, experimentation and forecasting.

The Ideal Candidate

You will already have experience working in a BI or Data Analyst role and be comfortable developing reports that support business decision-making. You’ll have a good understanding of modern reporting tools such as Power BI or Tableau, be able to write basic SQL queries to explore and validate data and have experience working with stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver reporting that answers real business questions.

A relevant degree or above in a quantitative field is desirable (e.g., Analytics, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics)

Other skills and experience required include:

•    Experience working in a BI or Data Analyst role, delivering dashboards or reports that support business decision-making.

•    Experience building reports in Power BI or Tableau, with an understanding of data modelling and the ability to work with measures or calculations (e.g. DAX).

•    Working knowledge of SQL for querying and exploring data.

•    Experience developing and delivering reporting solutions end-to-end, from gathering requirements through to sharing insights with stakeholders.

•    Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to translate business questions into clear reporting and analysis.

•    A curious and proactive problem-solver who enjoys exploring data and identifying meaningful insights.

•    Good organisation and prioritisation skills, able to manage multiple requests and deadlines.

•    An interest in continuing to develop technical and analytical skills as part of a growing analytics team.

•    Exposure to modern data platforms (e.g. Azure, Fabric, Snowflake) or analytical tools such as Python or R would be beneficial.
