The Shopping and Budgeting Editor is the person that helps our readers find the right product for them – at the right price. Scouring the internet for the best deals on the products and retailers that we’re confident in recommending, they’re the ones that help our audience live their best lives by providing true, helpful advice when it’s most needed.
The Shopping and Budgeting Editor is a key addition to our growing editorial team, creating a crucial bridge between our in-depth, expert testing and finding which products have become incredible value.
Whether it’s a five-star Dyson that’s 50% off, insights into how our readers can save money while living life to the fullest or spotting which retailers are truly worth checking out, our expert is there to give calm, helpful advice and make sure only the best deals, services and opportunities are serviced.

** Remote/home working ** With a hybrid approach requiring 1 day a week in the office in Kings Cross London. The Saga Media team also enjoy getting together once a month for a team day, locations may vary.

Role Responsibility
You will report directly to the Chief Content Officer, you’ll be an integral part of the team, working with all Editors in Chief, running your own newsletter to our huge audience and working with the commercial team to understand where the true and most helpful opportunities are for our readers. As a consumer champion, you’ll be using the website, newsletters, video and social to get the right messages out at the right time.
As the Editor for Shopping & Budgeting, you will be responsible for the following areas;
- Developing and maintaining a strong understanding of all products tested and recommended
- Creating a strong radar and database of the best deals and sales around
- Working closely with editorial to infuse money-saving with the review process
- Being on top of trending products in our key reader interest areas
- Liaising regularly with our data and commercial teams to stay abreast of any upcoming opportunities
- Being the point of contact for any legislative or trending issues that can help our readers save money
- Writing comments for press releases or reactive material for the wider media
- Project managing key shopping events like Black Friday to help our readers cut through the noise in the market
- Using data to create a clear and useful content calendar for deals and money-saving opportunities
The Ideal Candidate
We require an exceptional and commercially minded Editor. You will need to demonstrate the following skills and experience;
- Clear understanding of data tools
- Strong understanding of the retail landscape
- Website management and content creation
- Great interpersonal skills
- A desire to train, guide and promote diversity
- Ability to deal with multiple stakeholders effectively
- Previous experience within a retail editorial capacity
- Strong experience with deals and sales reporting / editing
- A proven ability to sub work with 100% accuracy
- Previous experience of working cross-departmentally
