And right now, we are looking for an Editor-in-Chief.
As Editor-in-Chief for Saga Newsletters you will manage, and curate several engaging weekly editorial newsletters for millions of Saga readers. You will work with the Chief Content Officer to develop an editorial plan for each newsletter and collaborate with digital and magazine teams to ensure consistent, high-quality content each week.
Saga has an experienced and highly engaged audience who are keen to receive insightful, and entertaining weekly newsletters on a range of topics.
As the Editor-in-Chief for Newsletters at Saga Media, you will be responsible for crafting articles, commissioning features, and working with our Saga Media digital and magazine teams to curate a number of weekly newsletters in several subject areas.
Initially, you’ll be responsible for four newsletters, covering Travel, Automotive, Cruises and Lifestyle. A passion for one or more of these subjects is preferred, but you will also have access to a sizable freelance budget to ensure there is expert, authoritative and trustworthy content for each newsletter, every week.
With an email base running into the millions, this is a fantastic opportunity to flex your creative muscles and have your work viewed on-mass every single week.
Role Responsibility
- Producing multiple editorial newsletters every week
- Increasing newsletter engagement and subscriptions
- Analysing newsletter performance, with the ability to focus on what performs well, and where improvements are needed
- Writing, commissioning, and editing articles
- Pitching new newsletter ideas and engagement techniques to the CCO
- Collaborating with other sites within the Saga Media division and key teams in the wider business including audience, eCommerce, and sales.
- Keeping on top of current trends and news, ensuring the newsletters target the things most relevant to readers
- Championing excellent editorial, SEO and eCommerce practices built on expertise, authority, and trust
The Ideal Candidate
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Budget and people management
- Meeting, interview and 1-on-1 skills
- A passion for delivering exceptional experiences every day to the Saga audience
- 5+ years experience writing high quality online content, preferably within either the travel, automotive or lifestyle sector
- A proven track record producing engaging newsletter content
- Experience using analytics tools to track article performance and ability to spot trends and act quickly to capitalise on them
- In-depth knowledge of SEO and eCommerce best practices
