Finance Manager - Financial Reporting & Control (FR&C)

*This is a hybrid role, working from home and with regular days into the office to collaborate with colleagues. So, you must live within a commutable distance of our offices*
Reporting to and deputising for the Finance Director, the role is ideally suited to an experienced qualified accountant, with previous Financial Reporting and Control experience in a Financial Services regulated business and/or Content. This role will have responsibility for the production and delivery of all internal and external financial reporting requirements, including but not limited to; preparation of the statutory financial statements, cashflow forecasting and oversight and management of the balance sheets for these entities.
Role Responsibility
- Deputise for the Finance Director with Financial Reporting & Control as required
- Support the production of the consolidated financial statements for the Saga plc Group’s Annual Report and Accounts and Interim Statement.
- Support with the preparation of Audit Committee papers for meetings held throughout the year where relevant.
- Lead the month end process for all entities, delivering monthly balance sheet and cashflow reporting, along with insight and commentary appropriate for the intended audience
- Become the lead contact for external audit for Money & Media entities for which the role is responsible, and facilitate the provision of information to the auditor as required
- Support in the review and production of regulatory reporting, including RMAR and others as required
- Build excellent working relationships with key stakeholders, both internal and external, including colleagues across finance, internal and external audit.
- Show curiosity to continually review and improve the control and process environment of the business
- Mentor and develop other team members, providing strong leadership and motivation within this team and the wider Finance team
- Provide adhoc support as required
The Ideal Candidate
Capability, Knowledge and Experience:
- Line management experience advantageous but coaching and mentoring skills are a must
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, managing stakeholders at all levels of the organisation
- Experience and competence in external financial reporting, including preparation of statutory accounts
- Able to build and maintain excellent working relationships, with both finance and non-finance colleagues
- Able to challenge processes and assumptions, with a mindset for continuous improvement
- Strong report writing skills and the ability to consider how external parties will view the results and adapt the narrative accordingly
- Exceptional IT skills, particularly within both MS Excel and Powerpoint
- Experience of working within a regulated entity would be advantageous
Education and Qualifications:
- ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified with demonstrated reporting and commercial experience

- Extreme attention to detail, with the ability to review (both themselves and peers) and feedback accordingly

- Have a passion for process efficiency, and establishing a culture of continuous improvement and challenging the status quo
- Strong, articulate, written and oral communication skills, with the ability to deliver information concisely, and at the appropriate level for the audience
- Proactive individual who is able to take initiative and direct the team accordingly
- Naturally analytical, with the ability to troubleshoot problems quickly
