Job Introduction

An exciting and rare opportunity to join our fantastic Cruise Finance Team as the new Finance Manager. With the ability to own end-to-end reporting and forecasting processes as well as partnering with the business on operating costs and forecasting effectively, you will play an integral role within our Cruise business.

You would own the River Cruise monthly financials for our four Saga River Cruise ships as well as act as the first point of contact for the commercial team, providing financial support with managing their respective areas and facilitating our plans for growth.

This would suit someone who is looking for a varied role with exposure to the entire business, presenting an opportunity to see the end-to-end financial process, working with key stakeholders across the business.

Role Responsibility

  • This role will be responsible for all the financial reporting across the Rivers business including forecasting, planning, leading month end process, preparing management accounts and reviewing ledgers
  • You will be a key stakeholder in engaging with the wider Cruise business to support them with their budgets, providing guidance and advice on how they can best be supported (cost control)
  • Being the lead for all financial reporting and forecasting as well as involvement in budgeting effectively and accurately across various departments
  • You will manage the River Cruise month end management accounts including preparing management accounts packs for circulation to both Saga Group and the Cruise management team ensuring you are meeting all Group reporting deadlines
  • You will look after cashflow forecasting and balance sheet management of the River Cruise operation
  • Provide support to the performance management team particularly in costing new itineraries and driving revenue generation
  • Challenging business processes to exploit commercial opportunities
  • Ensuring finance processes adopted by the team are robust, reliable and efficient, and can accommodate planned future growth
  • Assisting in the annual budget and 5-year plans for River Cruise
  • Delivery of ad hoc projects will be a key component of the role, with expectation that the role holder can deliver significant value with appropriate support from management.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Solid experience in forecasting, planning and business partnering
  • Holds relevant industry standard qualifications (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or part-qualified)
  • Strong ability to communicate with stakeholders with an understanding and supportive nature
  • Able to quickly establish credibility, winning the respect and cooperation of colleagues at all levels, including Department Heads and Directors
  • Strong accounting skills with proven experience in a similar role
  • Analytically strong with the ability to challenge and think creatively
  • Good levels of energy and stamina, and able to cope with a demanding schedule with a flexible approach to satisfying the demands of their role and team
  • Able to work as a team and capable of delivering objectives within high-profile projects
