Salary – Up to £43,000 per annum

At Saga, we are looking for a Systems Accountant to join our Insurance Finance team on a 6-month contract.

We are currently in the middle of migrating our General Ledger to Workday, and as a Systems Accountant, you will play a key part in supporting throughout the project.

Reporting to the Accounts Receivable Manager, you will work closely with the R2R and AR teams and project stakeholders.

We offer flexibility over where you work – you choose a place that you feel most comfortable and productive, either from home or in one of our hubs in London or Kent. 

Role Responsibility

As a Systems Accountant you will be accountable for the following areas:

  • Facilitating testing support from the project team to the AR Team.
  • Liaising with the project team to resolve issues arising during the testing phase.
  • Ensuring all items in the testing phase are successfully completed and properly documented.
  • Communicating any issues or challenges arising and ensuring they are resolved.
  • Collaborating in the adaptation of processes currently linked to the existing accounting system.
  • Supporting the reconciliation process during the data validation phase of the project.

The Ideal Candidate

Our ideal Systems Accountant would have experience in the migration of an accounting system. Experience using Workday would be of advantage, however we are happy to consider applicants who have used other financial systems

Other skills and experience required include:

  • Demonstrable experience in process improvement
  • Accounting background, including experience in journal entries, reconciliations and maintenance of control accounts.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a range of colleagues at varying levels
  • Analytically strong with the ability to challenge and interrogate, facilitating the ability to identify anomalies or inconsistencies and pursue these through to a resolution
  • Able to work independently without constant oversight
  • Relish the challenge of working to tight deadlines and during periods of pressure
