 And right now we have an exciting opportunity for a Head of Home Pricing within Saga Services Ltd (SSL). You will lead a team to deliver market-leading pricing models for Home and support your Commercial colleagues in insurer partner selection, securing the best available rates for Saga’s products.

You will bring insight into the Home insurance market which will enable you to advise on our longer term Home product strategy.  You will be accountable for delivering pricing margins in line with agreed business plans whilst ensuring customer satisfaction.

Additionally, you will keep up to date with market pricing trends, anticipate partner rate changes and create a framework to allow the Home team to respond to pricing queries from various business areas.

As a senior leader in the business, you will role model Saga values and act as the project sponsor for the relevant business change programmes, initiating and driving change.

Role Responsibility

  • Delivering a pricing strategy for the home product line that supports a growing business over a 5-year time horizon.
  • Leading the development of pricing models, pricing rules and rating approaches for the Home product, creating an environment that allows your team to continuously improve pricing effectiveness and working with the Head of Pricing Transformation to help transform Saga’s pricing capability.
  • Leading the analysis of net rates from insurer partners within Home and understanding the commercial value of partnerships to both sides and construct compelling cases to secure competitive advantage.
  • Leading the monitoring of actual versus expected performance of pricing models; establishing pricing frameworks which minimize the risk and cost of underperformance.
  • Saga’s adherence to pricing fairness rules and data usage policies within Home.
  • Engaging in constructive debate at trading meetings, collaborating with colleagues to identify solutions to trading challenges or opportunities to improve results.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Bachelor/Master’s in a numerate subject.
  • 5 or more years’ experience of UK personal lines pricing.
  • Home experience essential, knowledge or experience of Motor, PMI and Travel desirable.
  • Experience of working across multiple organisation ideal but not essential.
  • Experienced communicator of technical content.
  • Knowledge of other analytical packages (Python, R, Emblem, Databricks) ideal but not essential.
  • Experience of leading and mentoring teams.
  • Effective project management, able to prioritise.
  • Understanding of the application of a range of insurance administration and data management systems (eg Radar Live, Guidewire, SQL, Tableau etc).
