Head of Marketing - SPF

The Head of Marketing is responsible for the growth of Saga Personal Finance (SPF) and the delivery of the Marketing Plan.

In addition to Saga Personal Finance owned channels, the Head of Marketing is responsible for working with Marketing leadership across the Saga Group to ensure that SPF is represented and embedded in all appropriate customer touchpoints and product journeys.

You will have a deep understanding of the Personal Finance market and the key drivers of customer acquisition and engagement in the Saga demographic with a bias to digital channels.

Role Responsibility

  • Working with the Managing Director of SPF and the Marketing Director for Services, own the strategy, development and execution of marketing programs that deliver growth across our key customer segments
  • Leadership of the development and delivery of the SPF marketing plan
  • Leadership and accountability of marketing budget to achieve customer acquisition & sales volumes
  • Leading marketing relationships with strategic partners
  • Develop a creative, proactive and entrepreneurial approach towards growing SPF sales
  • Work with the SPF Product and Business Development leaders to identify opportunities to reach new market segments and expand market share
  • Oversee the production of the annual marketing budgets and monthly forecasts, ensuring they accurately reflect performance and reflect our ambition to grow this business
  • Lead the team to develop highly creative and engaging marketing campaigns, based on a deep understanding of our customers and what’s important to them
  • Monitor the competition (acquisitions, promotional offers and new products), share this 
  • insight across the business and apply to our marketing activity where appropriate
  • Lead relationships with external suppliers – such as media, creative and digital agencies, building strong and supportive ways of working
  • Continue to develop our programme of customer journey optimisation, considering all customer journeys online and offline
  • Maintain highly productive relationships across the business, working collaboratively with other business functions to prioritise focus on those things that will most effectively achieve our growth ambition
  • Build on our already high staff engagement score. Support the marketing team to remove blockers and processes that make life difficult, and create a fun and rewarding environment to work in
  • To ensure that all programmes and activities relating to them meet all regulatory, compliance and internal audit requirements, having due regard for relevant statutory authorities and requirements – e.g. FSA, OFT, Consumer Credit Act
  • Key leader in the Saga Personal Finance Executive

The Ideal Candidate

Capability, Knowledge and Experience:

  • Strategic understanding of the marketing/sales/product relationship
  • The ability to interact with internal and external peers at all levels
  • The ability to manage budgets, control costs and deliver strong ROI
  • Competent in using customer databases to develop targeted marketing campaigns
  • Strong people and performance management skills with proven track record
  • Demonstrate complete understanding of business plans and goals and proven ability to make serious contribution to the business future
  • Excellent understanding of the over-50s market
  • Competent in playing a leading role within the company
  • Significant demonstrable marketing leadership experience

Education and Qualifications:

  • Excellent standard of secondary education
  • Degree calibre
