And right now, we are looking for a Head of Pricing Transformation to oversee the transformation of Saga’s pricing capability into best in class by identifying the most critical areas of development and prioritising these to deliver significant benefits to Saga Insurance.

You will draw on your extensive experience of what constitutes market leading pricing capability across analytics and data, bringing it to bear for Saga’s target market and within Saga Insurance’s chosen operating model.

This role will include both the development of widely used pricing approaches alongside developing the extensive use of advanced analytics and data science within the Saga Insurance pricing teams.

Additionally, you will provide inspiring leadership and role modelling to the Pricing Transformation team, made up of Data, Analytics and Pricing Process colleagues and, as a senior leader in the business, role model Saga behaviours and act as project sponsor for relevant business change programmes, initiating and driving change.

Role Responsibility

  • Bringing best practice ideas and concepts to the Saga pricing team.
  • Working with the Insurance Pricing Director and other Pricing “Heads of” to agree the roadmap for pricing capability development at pace for all of Saga’s Insurance products.
  • Working extensively with the core Motor, Home and PMI & Travel pricing teams to ensure developments dovetail with the existing pricing team plans.
  • Estimating the potential value of different initiatives and using this to prioritise the developments.
  • Developing a team who can deliver step changes in the pricing assets for use by the Saga pricing teams.
  • Overseeing the development of processes which are common to pricing all product lines including our risk management frameworks and controls for pricing.
  • Collaborating across the SSL and AICL pricing teams where there is mutual benefit to developing a Group wide approach.
  • Working extensively with stakeholders across functions, including in Claims Analytics, Marketing, Underwriting and Operations in order to ensure that solutions are designed such that they maximise the value from aligning objectives across functions.
  • Working with the Commercial and Trading teams to ensure that the value of solutions can be realised.
  • Working with the Change and IT teams to develop long-term sustainable solutions as well as quick win solutions.
  • Utilising the newly developed SCV, data marts and central data solution to underpin developments.
  • Developing the data science capability further within the Saga pricing teams and working closely with the broader Saga data science community.
  • Continually looking externally at market developments and bringing relevant. ones into Saga, to ensure there is a constant and rolling set of initiatives to drive ongoing progress.
  • Networking internally and externally to ensure our capability remains leading edge.
  • Creating documentation of key developments.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Bachelor/Master’s in a numerate subject.
  • Several years’ experience of UK personal lines pricing, including retail pricing.
  • Motor and Home experience essential, knowledge or experience of PMI and Travel desirable.
  • Experience of working across multiple organisation ideal but not essential.
  • Experienced communicator of technical content.
  • Passionate about pricing and advanced analytics.
  • Radar (ideal but not essential).
  • Knowledge of other analytical packages (Python, R, Emblem, Databricks) ideal but not essential.
  • PowerPoint, MS Word, MS Excel.
  • Knowledge of visualisation tools such as Tableau or Power BI a plus but not essential.
  • In depth UK Personal Lines Market Knowledge.
  • Significant UK Personal Lines Market Pricing experience.
  • A deep understanding of the drivers of commercial success in a Personal Lines insurance business.
  • Advanced Analytics and its application to Insurance.
  • FCA GI Pricing Practice Requirements and wider regulation affecting pricing including Consumer Duty.
  • People Management experience.
