And right now we are looking for a Head of Procurement to join our Hotel Operations team to develop and deliver holiday products that meet existing and first-time buyers requirements, ensuring exceptional quality standards, to meet the requirements of the ships clientele and crew.

As Head of Procurement, you will work within budget to undertake all purchasing activity for the hotel operations on board our luxury ships. You should possess strong negotiation skills, with an ability to influence and negotiate. You will be experienced with managing budgets, including regular reviews of wastage levels and the maintenance of a stock control system. You'll utilise your creative flair, when liaising with on-board Heads of Department to develop new menus, ensuring that our passengers delight in the exceptional!

Role Responsibility

  • Undertake all purchasing activity – food, beverages & consumables – for the Hotel Operations on board our Ships
  • Establish cost and purchasing controls to ensure that the best pricing is obtained through competitive tendering that is reassessed on at least an annual basis
  • All purchased materials to obtained within agreed specifications and meet all Health & Safety or regulatory requirements.
  • Undertake end to end supplier management activities, including the development of new business in line with all regulatory and compliance requirements. This may include regular site visits or inspections with new and approved suppliers.
  • Undertake end to end supply chain management, which will include the oversight and management of all available stores, including the Saga warehouse and any third party warehouses where purchased goods are stored.

  • Excellent negotiation and buying skills
  • Able to act as an ambassador for the company
  • Excellent numerical and analytical skills
  • The ability to persuade, influence and negotiate with national and international suppliers
  • Excellent reasoning and problem-solving skills
  • Initiative, diplomacy, tact and sound judgement
  • Previous experience of working in the cruises industry would be beneficial but not essential
  • Prior experience of working at a Purchasing Manager level is essential
