…And right now, we are looking for a Home Trading Lead to work in our Insurance part of the business at an exciting time in Saga’s history. As a Group, Saga is taking to the seas in our brand new, luxury cruise ships, leading the market with innovative insurance and financial products.
You will be responsible for driving the trading performance of the Home Insurance products, you will play a key part in delivering Saga Services’ Home Insurance profit and volume targets.
The role will involve forensically reviewing trading results and trends to understand performance, investigating material deviations to plan, and identifying opportunities to support volume growth and drive P&L performance as well as use and utilise both new and existing MI, customer insight and market trends to continuously test, develop and enhance the trading performance whilst ensuring that we deliver exceptional experiences for our customers.
You will bring strong data and analytical capabilities coupled with excellent stakeholder management skills to ensure we maintain strong and healthy relationships with our internal stakeholders.

Role Responsibility
Your top 6 responsibilities are:
- To monitor and Analyse day to day trading performance for the Saga Home Insurance Product, closely monitoring product performance against plan targets – identifying root cause of any variance to plan from underlying drivers of performance and assessing the volume/P&L impact.
- Plan, undertake and present product performance analysis with appropriate recommendations to improve product performance and customer satisfaction.
- Assess and Analyse market and competitor information to provide valuable insights to help inform tactical and strategic decision making.
- Identify, quantify, and execute creative new initiatives which will result in increased volume and/or value for the Motor Insurance P&L.
- Collaborate with the Pricing and Commercial Teams to ensure that the panel pricing and revenue strategies support the development of compelling, competitive, and profitable propositions.
- Work closely with Marketing Teams to develop customer volume plan and accompanying CPAs targets for both direct and PCW acquisition.
The Ideal Candidate
Capability, Knowledge and Experience:
- Previous P&L responsibility in a Financial Services Organisation or General Insurer would be advantageous.
- Highly analytical and numerate – with the ability to identify and evaluate options to drive commercial benefit.
- Good knowledge of general insurance products and practices.
- Expert project manager – able to lead and manage multiple projects simultaneously including product development process, TCF process & product lifecycle.
- Excellent personal communication and presentation skills - good interpersonal skills, particularly across departments.
- Dedicated team management skills with the ability to work collaboratively across functions.
- Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
- Customer centric approach and methodology.
- Dependable and reliable.
- Team Player.
- Advanced in Excel.
- Experience in working with Tableau and/or similar software.
- Experience of programming languages such as SQL, VBA, and R.
- Familiarity with the general insurance market.
Education and Qualifications:
- Graduate calibre, with demonstrable and relevant educational background or relevant professional qualification(s).
- CIMA or MBA would be desirable but not essential.
