…And right now, we are looking for a Hotel Purchasing Executive at an exciting time in Saga’s history. As a Group, Saga is taking to the seas in our brand new, luxury cruise ships, leading the market with innovative insurance and financial products.

You will play a key role in supporting the Hotel Purchasing Manager and the rest of the Hotel Operations team, in delivering a first-class hotel operation to our customers, and to help and support the cruising function of the business.

Role Responsibility

  • Support the Hotel Purchasing Manager in the undertaking of all purchasing activity for Hotel Operations on board our ships - food, beverages, consumables and uniforms
  • Support the Hotel Purchasing Manager in the implementation, management and ongoing development of spend, cost and purchasing controls within Hotel Operations
  • Support of the Hotel Procurement Manager, as required in competitive tendering, supplier benchmarking, value engineering and range review to ensure best pricing is delivered without compromising Hotel Operations and the quality of offer and guest experience
  • Support the Hotel Purchasing Manager, as required in ongoing Supplier Relationship Management to ensure that contracted price, service levels and performance indicators is delivered by contracted suppliers
  • Support the Hotel Purchasing Manager in maintaining supplier contracts to support the Group Contracts database
  • Support the Hotel Purchasing Manager in ensuring that all purchased materials to obtained within agreed specifications and meet all Health & Safety or regulatory requirements 
  • Support the Hotel Purchasing Manager in delivering end to end supply chain management
  • Support the Hotel Purchasing Manager in the continuous review of the supply chain base and ongoing consolidation where possible
  • Support the Hotel Purchasing Manager in the management and maintenance of all supply chain and purchasing elements of MXP, including but not limited to the Hotel Item Master, Supplier data records, Supplier Pricing Agreements and the MXP-Coupa interface
  • Support the Hotel Purchasing Manager in the management and oversight of all available stores, including the Saga warehouse and any third-party warehouses where purchased goods are stored
  • Support the Hotel Purchasing Manager with the loading of vessels in ports and maintaining compliance with the SOP 
  • Support Hotel Operations on board with purchasing matters

The Ideal Candidate

Capability, Knowledge and Experience:

  • Previous experience of working in in the cruise, hotels or hospitality industries would be beneficial but not essential
  • Previous experience working in a commercial or supplier facing role is essential
  • Demonstrable IT proficiency - Microsoft Office essential, MXP preferred
  • Demonstrable experience in data, cost and budget management 
  • Strong commerciality and business acumen
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills

Education and Qualifications:

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent, or qualified by experience

Personal Characteristics:

  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines, in a fast-paced business                                                                                                                        
  • Strong interpersonal skills – this role will involve working closely with all departments.
  • Ability to identify when an issue should be escalated
