We are looking for an exceptional Interim Finance Director to join us and hit the ground running, leading the finance team that supports the Saga Media and Saga Money businesses for a period of parental leave, expected to be up to 9 months.

Working alongside the CEO of each business you will head up an established finance team in support of the business divisions. You will have responsibility for all aspects of the financial performance and work with the CEOs on strategy and strategy execution. You will have statutory and regulatory responsibilities for the two legal entities.

As a fixed term contract for approximately 9-months you will need to be able to quickly establish yourself, bringing your experience of high level stakeholder engagement, confidence, diplomacy and empathy, business acumen and strengths in strategic thinking, and people leadership.

Role Responsibility

  • Working with the CEOs of each business to drive and implement the strategy.
  • Managing all aspects financial performance demonstrating a robust understanding of the current finances, taking action when needed and responding to events, communicating and directing activity.
  • Ensuring compliance with all regulatory and balance sheet responsibilities for Saga Services – ensuring compliance with capital requirements, submitting proper and accurate filings to regulators and establishing appropriate processes to monitor compliance.
  • Managing the Finance team, ensuring resources are appropriately deployed and that development needs of the team are identified, and opportunities to deepen or broaden knowledge and experience are utilised.  
  • Improving business performance informed through financial performance data and other insights.

The Ideal Candidate

  • An experienced, highly commercial, astute financial professional.
  • A proven track record in a large, complex, matrixed corporate setting, ideally in a regulated environment.
  • A strong people leader able to guide, direct, inspire and support.
  • Able to provide effective and appropriate support to the business from a reporting, regulatory and planning perspective.
