And right now, we are looking for a Risk Internal Communications Officer to join our Risk and Compliance team. In this role, you will work closely with the Risk Function Heads, the Chief Risk Officer and the Internal Communications department to develop and implement the risk communications strategy for the Risk department.  

You will also work with the wider business to build impactful, timely, relevant, and informative risk management content using all media options available and support the development and delivery of Risk Management and Conduct Risk learning throughout the organisation. 

This is a brand-new position and a fantastic opportunity to quickly impact the business and help build the risk communication programme at a time the very nature of risk management is becoming more prominent. 

You will bring an internal communications background with demonstrable experience of impacting a business through communication. You will have an ability to create a communications programme and have digital skills (be able to use/create content on various platforms such as social media and videos)

Role Responsibility

  • Building and implementing the internal communications strategy and programme for the Risk function, ensuring that our activity is translated into targeted compelling content to raise awareness, build understanding and to grow our engagement with the business and place risk management more central to the way that we do operate 
  • As part of the above strategy to recognise the cultural shift necessary and ensure the way we communicate helps to bring about and embed the desired cultural change 
  • Receiving and analysing risk information and producing creative and engaging content for a wide range of different internal audiences 
  • Delivering risk training to all levels of the business, ensuring that training content and delivery achieves the greatest impact, with measures in place to figure out success and to identify areas for improvement 
  • To review and enhance risk reporting that goes to a variety of governance fora, ensuring that language is appropriate for the target audience, clear and consistent 
  • To conduct a review of all Saga Risk Policies ensuring they are written in a plain English style, which is replicated in a consistent manner across all policy and guidance documents 
  • Monitoring awareness and risk engagement levels from communications and training delivered against KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) 

The Ideal Candidate

  • Demonstrable experience in a communications related role (e.g., press officer, blogger, editor, writer, etc) 
  • Experience of taking information and converting that into a compelling story 
  • Ability to run presentations and seminars 
  • Strong Interest in risk management; although experience is not required some exposure to 2nd line activity would be advantageous 
  • Strong track record of working with management at all levels 
  • Exceptional writing, editing and proofreading skills 
  • Ability to translate technical risk terminology into language that is easy to understand by the wider business 
  • Experience of writing for a range of audiences and channels 
  • Good organisational and communications programme management skills 
  • Creative ideas for how to reach different types of colleagues
