And right now, we are looking for a Lead Application Developer to work in our IT part of the business at an exciting time in Saga’s history. As a Group, Saga is taking to the seas in our brand new, luxury cruise ships and leading the market with innovative insurance and financial products.
You will be responsible for Ownership of all technical aspects of development within the Scrum Team. Architecture design, development, system testing and delivery of solutions.
You will bring hands-on development including leading a team of JAVA developers, mentor developers and run periodic technical sessions to share knowledge and cultivate best practices within the team as well as overseeing the delivery and release of code to production environment including, code reviews, defect fixes, performance tuning, post-implementation support and documentation.

Role Responsibility
- Building and modifying software applications in line with Business needs and requirements.
- Integrating software components and third-party applications.
- Ensuring any deliveries are of high quality and any development side testing is complete.
- Working collaboratively with other Technology professionals to deliver technology programmes, projects and workstreams.
- Ensuring deliveries are secure, in line with best practice and aligned to policy.
- Creating and maintaining technical documents.
- Remaining up to date with development best practice.
- Assisting with troubleshooting systems and working collaboratively to resolve and prevent any defects, risk, or issues.
- Providing technical expertise.
- Performance managing Application developers.
The Ideal Candidate
- Communication skills.
- Knowledge of coding languages and frameworks relevant to area.
- Agile development methodologies.
- Ability to learn new coding languages and technologies.
- An eye for detail and identifying problems.
- Performance management.
- Application development leadership.
- Good education background ideally to a degree level.
- Track record of successful delivery.
- Application developer or similar experience.
