** At Saga we’re radically flexible which means our colleagues have total autonomy over where they work – home, hybrid or hub. This role has a hybrid element which means our team come together when we need to collaborate which is 2-3 days per week in our Ashford Hub office.**

We are looking for a Lead Web Application Developer to join our growing Cruise business.  

You will be responsible for ownership of all technical aspects of development within the Web Team. Architecture design, development, system testing and delivery of solutions including component design and development, framework choice and implementation. 

You will bring hands-on development including leading a team of web developers, mentoring developers and run periodic technical sessions to share knowledge and cultivate best practices within the team as well as overseeing the delivery and release of code to production environment including, code reviews, defect fixes, web application performance monitoring, post-implementation support and documentation.

Role Responsibility

  •  Leading the design, build and modification of new and existing software solutions to deliver against the business needs and requirements. Ability to adapt and deliver with precision and pace. 
  •  Providing strong technical guidance to the team and working alongside the technical leadership team, product owners and project management team to ensure the team delivers against agreed business requirements. 
  •  Working collaboratively with other colleagues across Saga’s Technology community to deliver technology programs, projects and workstreams. 
  •  Establishing and maintaining a good working relationship with internal and external teams. 
  •  Ensuring our applications and team are aligned with best practice and policy to ensure quality deliverables. 
  • Staying up to date with the latest technology trends and directing these to the team. 
  •  Supporting the project team with planning and estimation of the project tasks and delivery dates. 
  •  Troubleshooting and monitoring our systems and working collaboratively with the team to resolve and prevent any defects, risks, or issues, whilst keeping key stakeholders updated with progress. 
  •  Being a key contributor to identify risks, understand the impact and liaise with the business and technology teams to put robust controls in place. 

 

The Ideal Candidate

  • Strong technical knowledge and analytical skills. 
  •  Full stack developer with experience in front end web technologies (HTML, CSS,Javascript, jQuery, React etc) and experience with C#, .NET & SQL. 
  • Demonstrable experience of producing and consuming web services using Web API or other REST frameworks. 
  • Experience with Azure or other Public cloud is advantageous. 
  • Content Management System experience is desirable. 
  •  Proactive, enthusiastic, and self-motivated. 
  •  Advocate for team success and proactively participating in the team to discuss issues, improvements, and successes. 
  •  Excellent organisational and communication skills. 

Package Description

  • Competitive salary up to £54,000
  • 35 hours per week (9am-5pm, Monday through Friday)
