…And right now, we are looking for a Lead C# .Net Application Developer to work in our Central part of the IT business at an exciting time in Saga’s history. As a Group, Saga is taking to the seas in our brand new, luxury cruise ships, leading the market with innovative insurance and financial products.     

You will be responsible for contributing to the business area processes to deliver world class technology operations for our systems and services. You will do this through excellent operational focus on system stability, security, performance, and reliability.

Role Responsibility

  • Designing software applications - both new and modifications to existing - in line with Business needs and requirements 

  • Integrating software components and third-party applications 

  • Ensuring any deliveries are of high quality, meeting agreed upon performance requirements, and that any development side testing is complete 

  • Working collaboratively with other Technology professionals to deliver technology programmes, projects and workstreams 

  • Working collaboratively with non-Technology professionals to obtain business requirements, share SME-level knowledge, and represent the team from a technical perspective 

  • Ensuring deliveries are secure, in line with best practice and aligned to policy 

  • Creating and maintaining technical documents 

  • Identifying issues in existing or new software 

  • Remaining up to date with development best practice 

  • Assisting with troubleshooting systems and working collaboratively to resolve and prevent any defects, risk, or issues 

  • Providing technical expertise 

  • Researching modern technologies, from initial application to implementation 

  • Performance managing Application Development resources

The Ideal Candidate

  • Communication skills 

  • Knowledge of coding languages and frameworks relevant to area 

  • Agile development methodologies 

  • Ability to learn new coding languages and technologies 

  • An eye for detail and identifying problems 

  • Performance management 

  • Application development leadership 

  • Good education background ideally to a degree level  

  • Track record of successful delivery 

  • Experience as an application developer or similar  

Desired Technology skills:  

  • Design, develop and implement technical solutions in Microsoft Azure environments using .NET (Azure Logic Apps, Azure WEB/API Apps) and in locally hosted applications using .NET (primarily C#).  

  • Develop event-based and message-based solutions with connectivity to third party services and develop solutions for Azure and SQL Server storage.  

  • Experience in assessing best solution considering cost, scalability, security, and redundancy in Azure and for locally hosted applications.  

  • Experience in SQL Server development.  

  • Working knowledge of security best practices and controls around app/user authentication both in Azure and on-prem hosted applications.  

  • Experience in Devops concepts such as CI and CD, and knowledge of tools such as Octopus, TeamCity, GIT, and Azure Devops
