Lead Network Engineer

** Remote/home working allowed. The role includes out of hours on-call and hardware maintenance tasks which will require site visits to the Folkestone offices. This role will suit candidates within commutable distance **

Right now, we are looking for a Network Team Lead to work in our Technology Operations Team. You will be responsible for leading a small team of technology engineers who support and maintain the IT infrastructure that supports the business. You will do this by delivering outstanding service and providing network ownership for challenges across the technology estate.

This role will be best suited to a technical expert with a strong background in network design, project delivery and support. Ideally you will have held a team lead or acting team lead role.

Role Responsibility

  • As the Network Team Lead, you’ll be a technical escalation point who manages the day-to-day operations of the network team. You’ll define, and drive adherence to, procedures and best practices for both the support service and the development of the network infrastructure.
  • You’ll be our subject matter expert and demonstrate elevated expertise of networking, at scale, across multiple environments, for example: Public cloud, private cloud and on-premises.
  • Owning the delivery and resolution of project actions, technical problems & incidents. 
  • You’ll have to need to liaise with internal and external partners, including user groups, technical IT consultants and project managers.
  • Support the technology operations management team in developing and delivering innovative technology initiatives.

The Ideal Candidate

Top Skills: 

  • Technically you will have an excellent knowledge software defined networking to include Azure V-wan design and architecture, Azure AVS, VMware NSXT, virtual networking (Virtual tunnel endpoints), strong skillset in routing, route re-distribution BGP to OSPF, understanding of dark fibre, multiplexers, VPN and knowledge of MPLS links.
  • Ability to create and clearly present high-level designs, low-level designs, service improvement documentation and root cause reports
  • Experience leading network related project delivery and service improvement initiatives
  • Recent CCNP (within 2 years) or equivalent experience.
  • Good understanding of cyber security
