And right now, we are looking for a Machine Learning Engineer to join our Insurance Analytics Team. As Machine Learning Engineer you will be responsible for maintaining and developing data pipelines and building and improving the team’s data asset.

Your innate sense of curiosity will help build solutions solving some of the organisations toughest problems and deliver benefits to the business through process efficiency, exceptional customer experiences, and reduced indemnity spend.

You will have strong technical capabilities, focusing on SQL and Python languages to feed data into machine learning models, in both development and production environments. Knowledge of Azure data lakes would be beneficial, as well as experience of pipeline creation and automation. You will need to flex precision pace and the pareto principle to drive strong benefits through smart coding practices.

Role Responsibility

  • Driving innovation and data-led decision making using advanced analytics and complex engineering pipelines which present high quality data for use in machine learning and insights.
  • Working to ensure the team becomes an advanced analytics centre of excellence, sharing best practice throughout Saga.
  • Taking an active interest in all insurance data and showing the #Curiosity needed to provide a high quality and well governed data asset.
  • Help design and implement reusable modular code for data pipelines to help with scalability.
  • Ensure Saga’s data policies for handling sensitive personal data are adhered to within the creation of the data asset and subsequent use cases.
  • Contribute to developing and maintaining a governance processes for delivery of automated data engineering pipelines, and build transparency surrounding this process.
  • Implement the analytics methodology for each use case from a data engineering perspective, starting with data identification and moving through development to piloting and testing of solutions.
  • Build transparency and documentation around the data asset, including a view of claims data quality.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Passionate about machine learning
  • Experienced with Systems and Data (storage, pipelines, manipulation)
  • Proficient in SQL (Transactional and Snowflake)
  • Proficient in Python and ML Ops (Pyspark a nice to have)
  • Comfortable with Review and Validation
  • Knowledge of Insurance Claims, Pricing and financial management
  • Experienced with Stakeholder management
  • Understanding of regulation and legislation
  • Knowledge of visualisation tools such as Tableau or Power BI would be beneficial
  • Experience using Data lakes for storage and cloud computing for computing large complex datasets, data pipelines, fully automated processes and troubleshooting across the ML lifecycle (preferably Azure and Databricks)
  • Experienced communicator of technical content
  • Successfully contributes to a fun, fast-paced, “fail fast”/agile environment
