…And right now, we are looking for a Network Support Engineer to work in Technology part of our Insurance business at an exciting time in Saga’s history. As a Group, Saga is taking to the seas in our brand new, luxury cruise ships, leading the market with innovative insurance and financial products.   

You will be responsible for the software development lifecycle from gathering the requirements to testing, to infrastructure deployment, to application deployment and system monitoring and health. You will do this through collaboration with development and operational teams and have specific accountability for the management and security of networking delivery within the frameworks and policies in place.

Role Responsibility

  • Working collaboratively with software engineering to understand networking requirements and system connectivity. 

  • Working with Infosec teams and Product Owners to achieve alignment between information security and business change objectives. 

  • Working in an Agile framework, and will be part of the Scrum ceremonies like Sprint Planning, Daily Stand up, Sprint review and retrospective etc. 

  • Leading the application networking requirements and translating them to a secure network configuration deployment as part of the automation. 

  • Leading innovative solutions to reduce network impacting incidents and risks, improve speed and accuracy of changes, reduce manual work, and enhance network tooling visibility. 

  • Adopting and implementing automation and streamlining of the processes and operations across the technical estate. 

  • The implementation of deployment, monitoring, and operational practices. 

  • Working in partnership with business units to align technology operations and development principles. 

  • Development, maintenance of relevant solution documentation, ensuring all information is accurate and up to date. 

  • Keeping UpToDate with and advising on security best practice, enforcing security policies, principles, and risk appetites. 

  • Working closely with internal information security and risk/compliance functions. 

  • Overall point of escalation for complex problems and incidents.  

  • Accountability for the adoption and adherence of all security policies and the protection of data and business assets across the technology estate. 

  • Lead the ongoing review of all activity across the technology operations ensuring that the migration to automation and agile, repeatable processes are adopted at every occasion. 

  • Ownership and acceptance of robust and repeatable processes for the transition of systems and projects into production ensuring that ongoing support, security, and capacity considerations are met.  

  • Working collaboratively with colleagues across the business to make sure my team and I support Saga’s strategic initiatives. 

  • Addressing identified vulnerabilities in line with policy requirements. 

  • Supporting Incident Response processes. 

The Ideal Candidate

  • Management / troubleshooting of security gateway Wi-Fi, NAC, and remote access technologies. 

  • Technical Skills, specifically relating to enterprise LAN/WAN and Cloud technologies. 

  • Network security best practices. 

  • Broad knowledge of Cyber Security threats and countermeasures.  

  • Communications skills. 

  • Stakeholder Management skills. 

  • Experience of Secure LAN/WAN, cloud, and security technologies with a focus on Azure, Extreme Networks, Cisco, and Checkpoint Technologies.  

  • Networking and Network security best practices. 

  • Foundational understanding of cyber-attack techniques. 

  • Foundational of vulnerability testing frameworks / techniques. 

  • Understanding of business technology to inform mitigation strategies. 

  • Industry Certifications.
