…And right now, we are looking for 2 PL/SQL Developers to work in our Finance part of our insurance business at an exciting time in Saga’s history. As a Group, Saga is taking to the seas in our brand new, luxury cruise ships and leading the market with innovative insurance and financial products. 

You will be responsible for developing data systems, business reporting, data analytics, as well as responsible for being a data partner to the business - providing technical data solutions, business reporting data developments within a delivery team which is responsible for delivering Business Management Information.

Role Responsibility

  • Following our Business Code of Conduct and always acting with integrity and due diligence. 

  • Specifying, designing, and automating of business processes using BI tools. 

  • Creating and maintaining technical documentation and best practices for all aspect of data extraction and transformation. 

  • Assisting the team with identifying gaps in data sets and ensuring we have optimal data quality for accurate and timely reporting and MI. 

  • Working with the business and technical stakeholders, identify and develop data sets to assist in efficient reporting and MI production. 

  • Working alongside the data testing function as a key stakeholder and technical lead on detailed and accurate testing plans. 

  • Reviewing and making recommendations on infrastructure and technologies used, always striving for continuous improvement and sustainability. 

  • Championing data quality and integrity, providing support and feedback to improve data quality. 

  • Providing support to the Head of Finance on all other matters as required.

  • High integrity and objectivity capable of selling ideas and implementing change. 

  • Analytically strong with the ability to challenge and think creatively. 

  • Possess an inquisitive mind and be able to identify anomalies or inconsistencies and pursue these through to a resolution. 

  • Able to work independently without constant oversight. 

  • Experience in data analytics, reporting and data change implementation / testing practices.  

  • Experience working with SQL – preferably within an insurance organisation. 

  • Experience working with transactional systems as well as reporting applications and analysis tools. 

  • Experience working in medium / large scale projects. 

  • Proven experience in creating and enforcing technical best practices. 

  • Knowledgeable on the principles behind effective database design and data management. 

  • Knowledgeable with GDPR and effectively managing the principles in a data driven team. 

  • Essential: strong experience of SQL, preferably Oracle SQL. However, will consider good knowledge of Microsoft or other SQL, with willingness to learn Oracle SQL. 

  • Preferred but not essential: experience of PL/SQL Developer IDE or similar tool, such as TOAD. 

  • Preferred but not essential: knowledge of developing PL/SQL packages and procedures or other procedural language such as T-SQL.
