…And right now, we are looking for a Pricing Analyst at an exciting time in Saga’s history. As a Group, Saga is taking to the seas in our brand new, luxury cruise ships, leading the market with innovative insurance and financial products.  In this role you will be responsible for actuarial analyses to determine prong for our Home insurance products.

You will have strong pricing experience gained from the general insurance industry, with an in-depth knowledge of how pricing works. You will bring a 2:1+ degree in a maths-based subject with a proactive, hands on approach to work.

Role Responsibility

Your top 5 responsibilities will be:  

  • Responsible for actuarial analyses to determine pricing for home insurance, a combination of:

​          a) Monthly pricing processes, reacting to changes in pricing experience and the                      wider market

          b) Strategic pricing projects to develop and maintain AICL’s market leading rating                     structure

  • Monitor emerging trends in claims experience and business mix, as well as raw policy and sales volumes
  • Recommend changes to net rating structures in order to achieve target volume and loss ratio
  • Become proficient in Radar, Emblem and Excel, and use where appropriate in developing recommendations
  • Collaborate with other team members on project work, demonstrating enthusiasm and contributing actively to discussions

The Ideal Candidate

Capability, Knowledge and Experience:

  • Experience of programming languages such as SQL, VBA and R.
  • Familiarity with general insurance pricing processes and methodologies.
  • Knowledge of Radar, Emblem, ResQ or similar systems.

Education and Qualifications:

  • High quality graduate – 2.1 or above in a numerical degree.
  • Strong A-levels in numerical or scientific subjects.

Personal Characteristics:

  • Strong numerical and statistical capabilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Comfortable working with large amounts of data.
  • Proactive, with a strong desire to learn. Demonstrates enthusiasm and self-motivation.
  • Strong organisational skills, e.g. manages time effectively, prioritises work appropriately, documents work thoroughly.
  • Good at working in a team and demonstrates this by helping peers/department to achieve tasks when deadline is tight. Is happy working late on occasion to meet business needs.
  • Dependable and reliable, e.g. will perform or give update on progress as required on assigned task with minimum micro management.
