And right now, we are looking for a Health Pricing Manager on a 12-month fixed term contract basis. You will be managing Saga’s Health insurance street and net pricing and supporting the delivery of the insurance strategy and customer outcomes as well as contributing to the achievement of the overall P&L for Saga Services (SSL).

You’ll be an experienced pricing expert able to manage and develop innovative solutions from day one to continuously improve Saga Services pricing capabilities and take responsibility for its trading performance.

You will bring an understanding of the drivers of best-in-class street pricing and commercial success in a Personal Lines insurance business and implement innovative and new approaches to generate value. You will work closely with the Head of Health and Travel Pricing to strongly influence and shape the Health insurance strategy and pricing policies to ensure business objectives are met over a 5-year horizon.

Additionally, you will work closely with the wider business and use your Pricing expertise to support key aspects of the Group’s strategy and company’s shareholder objectives.

Role Responsibility

  • Taking a leading role in the development of pricing models utilising Emblem, Radar, and other software tools
  • Working closely with the wider business to land the pricing elements of the Guidewire migration project
  • Managing the trading performance to ensure that revenue and policy volume targets are met over the short-term and over a 5-year horizon
  • As the subject matter expert on Pricing, setting the best standards for pricing practices and being a role model to other managers, leads and analysts
  • Modelling, interpreting and monitoring business data to identify and confirm market trends, product opportunities and new / changing rating factors
  • Ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements, pricing fairness rules and data usage policies
  • Proactively using data to identify areas of opportunity to drive commercial value and competitive advantage, delivering profitable growth for Saga’s insurance business

The Ideal Candidate

  • Detailed knowledge of General Insurance pricing processes and methodologies.
  • Mastery of price modelling with GLMs.
  • Strong numerical and statistical capabilities. 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong influencing and relationship management skills.
  • Possesses strong coaching abilities and actively motivates others to win.
  • Proactive, enthusiastic, and self-motivated.
  • Strong organisational skills, e.g. time management, documentation etc.
  • Viewed as a technical expert and a role model for analysts, leads and managers.
  • Line management experience.
