And right we are looking for an experienced Pricing Transformation Manager to work with the newly appointed Head of Pricing Transformation to manage the technical delivery of a range of projects focussed on advanced analytics and process efficiency with applications to all Saga lines of business (including motor, home, PMI and Travel), and application to both street pricing in SSL and risk pricing in AICL.

You will be an experienced pricing expert who has a proven track record of project management who can develop innovative solutions to drive step change advancement in Saga Services pricing capabilities.

You will bring an understanding of the drivers of best-in-class risk and street pricing with both customer outcome and commercial application in a Personal Lines insurance business and implement innovative and new approaches to generate value.

Additionally you will build and lead a dynamic and successful team of Analysts, be the subject matter expert on Pricing providing support to various business areas and work with our in-house underwriter on joint insurance initiatives.

Role Responsibility

  • Delivering a roadmap of pricing transformation projects developed in conjunction with the Head of Pricing Transformation
  • Developing data science capability at scale across both SSL and AICL pricing teams, and taking a leading role in the embedding of new tools and techniques within the pricing teams
  • Maximising the application of new data sources to the Saga pricing activities
  • Managing the delivery of projects which will improve pricing processes and deliver efficiency into the processes currently run by the core pricing teams
  • Managing the delivery of projects which will enable better automated monitoring of models, trends and MI
  • Ensuring the training / handover of new ideas into the wider teams
  • Support the delivery of pricing related elements of the overall insurance pricing transformation programme
  • Driving forward the cross-insurance data science community to ensure best approaches are used across functions, and especially across claims, pricing and marketing
  • Representing the needs of the pricing transformation team in business change programmes as required
  • Maintaining a wide awareness of developments in the general insurance market and applying commercial awareness to understand emerging trends and take appropriate actions

The Ideal Candidate

  • Technical pricing expert with project management experience.
  • Track record of delivering value adding projects on time.
  • A-level Maths and / or numerate degree
  • Detailed knowledge of General Insurance pricing processes and methodologies.
  • Mastery of a wide range of pricing and data science techniques and the application to insurance
  • Strong numerical and statistical capabilities. 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Good influencing and relationship management skills.
  • Good coaching abilities and actively motivates others to win.
  • Proactive, enthusiastic, and self-motivated.
  • Strong organisational skills, e.g. time management, documentation etc.
  • Technical expert and a role model for analysts, leads and managers.
  • Knowledge of modelling software, such as Radar, Emblem, or similar systems.
  • Experienced in some programming languages such as SQL, R and Python.
