…And right now, we are looking for a Product Communications Manager to join us. In this new role, you will be the strategic architect of our Product Communications team. You will sit at the intersection of our Regulatory, Marketing, Risk, Product and Conduct Risk roadmaps. Acting as gatekeeper, challenger, and solution guide. And, as Manager of the Product Comms team, you will work between Product, Compliance, IT (Information Technology) and Change.

You will also be at the forefront of changes across the industry, delivering key and tangible projects. 

You will have previously delivered complex marketing projects or initiatives within a regulated company and be able to proactively work in a matrix company. You will bring strong customer communication experience with strong leadership skills, whilst still being hands on with deliverables.

Role Responsibility

  • Lead key, high-level Product Communications and associated journey mapping across Services and Personal Finance; considering all implications of Product Communications, Regulatory requirements, FCA (Financial Conduct Authority) clean-up processes plus renewal and MTA adjustment requirements 
  • Actively contribute to working groups covering Marketing, Change, IT and Risk as well as consultancy with propositional and new product development 
  • Ensure Product Communication ideas and solutions make the most effective use the Products Team and supporting infrastructure balancing speed-of-response with solution integrity 
  • Lead all Product Communication activities that involve Product, Marketing, Conduct Risk, FCA and IT/Change departments; ensuring that the customer experience, insight, creative and communication ideas are adopted and executed seamlessly through Product Comms solutions 
  • Partner closely with wider Marketing and Product stakeholders on key projects and initiatives; making considerable progress within our Product Comms roadmaps 
  • Partner with our Digital, Group Digital and CRM (Customer Relationship Management) teams to develop key consumer journeys for each Product Communications-led campaign, communication and/or initiative 
  • Determine the communications tasks for each requested activity e.g. fault clean-up, FCA project, regulatory change etc. and, support the drafting of activity briefs that help co-ordinate, guide messaging, and execution; tailored to the specific objective, challenge and/or requested solution (working in conjunction with key stakeholders such as Project, Change or Product Leads) 
  • Re-stabilise Product Comms activities through the introduction of two new Lead roles for Saga: Product Comms Project Lead and Product Comms UAT (User Acceptance Tester) Lead; providing both the rigour and high-quality activity undertaking and output/s 
  • Monitor the success of Product Communications activities through Governance forums, key KPI metrics and through combined achievements within matrix-managed teams 
  • Responsible for demonstrating an understanding of regulatory risk across Marketing and customer touchpoints including working knowledge of the latest FCA guidance 
  • Display an understanding of digital, social, MarTech and emerging platforms and technologies

The Ideal Candidate

  • Strategic experience in marketing, product communications and/or Regulatory consultancy (customer-comms focussed) 
  • Demonstrable experience in a comms planning, media planning, digital strategy, or a social planning role; expertise in developing customer-focused solutions, marketing, and transformational communications 
  • Experience with integrated campaigns delivery across multiple internal touchpoints and channels; with proven ability on its impact to reduce risk and/or meet regulatory requirements 
  • Considerable experience working within matrix teams within regulatory and financial services environment/s 
  • Understanding, and experience, of required levels of UAT testing (manual, integration, data, end-to-end testing) plus, flexibility to work across multiple initiatives 
  • Demonstrable experience (and recent examples) or reducing change requests and minimising costs/maximising delivery solutions (Specific to customer communications) 
  • Experience in preparing for change releases, new projects, and support in developing test cases within a matrix-managed team 
  • Experience presenting to and challenging Directors and Senior Management 
  • Strong analytical skills and comfortable working at a detailed level when needed (including rolling sleeves up to support delivery) 
  • Project management skills – able to lead and manage projects across both partners and Saga 
  • Strong influential leadership and people management skills with the ability to work collaboratively across functions 
  • Sound creative judgement across Communications, Product and Customer Experience (inc. Brand) 
  • Ability to use insights to drive greater connection with consumers 
  • Demonstrable experience analysing communication effectiveness and an understanding of the role key KPI’s have within your team 
  • Well organised and detail oriented 
  • Ability to work under pressure and deadlines 
  • Naturally curious and creative individual; able to think around problems 
  • A rigorous and logical thinker 
  • Lots of drive, enthusiasm, and energy 
  • Consistently challenges and raises the bar on business and employee performance 
  • Commercially minded, with a strong ‘results led’ focus
