We are looking for a WFM Project Manager to work in our Saga Services part of the business.

You will be responsible for the ongoing management of projects with an initial scope of responsibilities encompassing four main areas:

  • Project management
  • Resource planning
  • Change process
  • Risk and audit

In this role, you will lead a variety of analysis, development and support projects and will typically have simultaneous responsibility for a number of telephony and operational initiatives aimed at delivering against the business strategy.

You'll utilise a number of key third party suppliers and partners as well as the wider IT estate and will need demonstrable experience of third party management.

Role Responsibility

  • Manage the day-to-day operational and strategic aspects of multiple or large-scale client projects.
  • Ability to present business and technical concepts to both technical and non-technical groups.
  • Architect project approach during pre-sales or project planning phase.
  • Partake and facilitate in contract development and negotiation.
  • Resolve any issues and solve problems throughout project life cycle.
  • Track and report on project milestones and provide status report.
  • To manage the delivery of the project from initiation to closure. This will include project planning, reporting, management of issues and risks, quality planning, change control, delivery, handover, review, benefits realisation and project closure.
  • Manage the project budget including the creation of purchase orders, approving invoices and regular project budget reporting. To ensure that all appropriate approval procedures are followed.
  • Plan and facilitate all project related meetings, including technical meetings and project workshops.
  • To develop and provide project status reports to the steering group, project board and other stakeholders as per the reporting requirements of the project.
  • To develop and maintain the project plan and to ensure that this is updated on a regular basis, taking account of resource allocation, task dependencies, risks and issues.
  • Ensure that the project communication plan is working in effectively and meets the needs of the project.
  • Ensure that there is the appropriate level of liaison and co-operation between the project team.
  • To escalate project issues to the appropriate person as required, and to ensure that any escalations are recorded.
  • To manage the relationship with the external organisation and ensure that they are consistently delivering the project tasks. 

The Ideal Candidate

Knowledge and Experience

  • Experience in a project management role, preferably in a corporate environment.
  • Relevant experience of managing projects lasting 3 to 6 months.
  • Experience of managing change in a corporate environment.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Project, Word and Excel.
  • Experience in budget management.
  • A good understanding of the functionality and importance of telecommunication systems in a contact centre environment is preferred.
  • Record of achieving outstanding productivity and quality in a range of projects and for delivery to budget and timescale. 
  • Demonstrate competence of managing large scale projects and teams, typically projects costed £0.25 m upwards and teams of 8-20 staff
  • Broad commercial knowledge, typically gained in blue chip UK enterprises and preferably in the Insurance/Financial sector. Exposure to a wide range of commercial activities with input to strategic business issues at a senior level.
  • Expertise in evaluating systems solutions and contributes to business efficiency and development through environment scanning.

Education and Qualifications (preferable)

  • PRINCE2 or similar qualification is preferred.
  • Educated to A-level or equivalent, degree level preferred.

  • A self-starter, able to identify issues and opportunities and ways of resolving/exploiting them.
  • Self-motivated, able to manage own workload effectively.
  • Good written & verbal skills.
  • Able to work methodically under pressure.
  • Good analytical skills, able to use data to determine cause of incidents, and able to act on this data to resolve incidents.
  • Flexible approach, able to react to changing situations. Often volunteers to take part in work out of normal office hours.
  • Good time management and organisation skills. Regularly manages the completion of tasks on time with some intervention from the manager.
  • Positive attitude that supports confidence, respect and support from other team members.
  • Proficient use of Windows and Microsoft Office tools, systems and applications.
  • Enthusiastic team worker - proven ability of working in a successful and flexible team.
  • A pro-active attitude, with the ability to recognise issues & escalate accordingly.
  • Thrives when given challenges and consistently meets targets, maintaining a high level of accuracy.
