This is a newly created role in our group function here at Saga. Our Risk Analyst will closely support the Risk Managers and our Head of Risk ensuring all data and incident reporting is correct and updated across the organisation.

You’ll be supporting delivery of 2nd Line risk and assurance services to our business units which include Saga Travel and Saga Cruise. You will act as a business partnership for risk management, demonstrating best practices in executing risk duties.

You will need to be committed to delivering exceptional results to support and maintain the effectiveness of the internal risk and control environment across all the business areas.

We work in a hybrid way at Saga both at home and in the office. When you do come into the office, it’ll be with a real purpose in mind – to meet with your team, to work together, and of course to socialise and celebrate too!  The Risk team get together in Ashford in Kent once a month and use the London King Cross Hub.

Role Responsibility

In this role you’ll be accountable for:

  • Developing and maintaining key stakeholder relationships across the business and risk functions.
  • Aggregating and analysing Risk data to provide high-quality insights and actionable information to management and support the annual assessment of the internal risk and control environment.
  • Supporting the production of Risk reporting for relevant risk committees, including risk appetite MI and opinions.  (KRI’s / Key Risk Indicators.)
  • Acting as a key point of engagement and reference for colleagues with regards to reporting risks and issues.
  • Supporting the ongoing development, maintenance and application of Saga’s Risk Management framework, policies, procedures and tools.
  • Actively promote Risk Management Policies and the internal approach to risk management.
  • Working with the business to articulate, develop and report on appropriate risk and control measures, making recommendations to reduce risk or improve existing controls.
  • Supporting ongoing risk identification, assessment and reporting initiatives.
  • Continuously interacting with the first line of defence to encourage timely reporting of risk incidents.
  • Facilitating root cause analyses on identified risk incidents and control weaknesses to recommend improvements.
  • Ensuring all Risk reports are clear, concise, identify root causes with practical solutions, and ultimately provide value to management.
  • Maintaining and developing the Risk Management System to identify trends, risks and opportunities.

The Ideal Candidate

You will have a good understanding of business risk and be able to interpret risk data. You will have a keen eye for detail and be an expert at producing data sets and reports for risks and incidents.  

You’ll also need to demonstrate the following skills, experiences and Saga Values;

  • Experience in risk management or a related discipline (preferably in a professional services environment)
  • Able to work to a high level of professionalism and always with integrity
  • Be resilient, with high levels of organisational and time management skills
  • Have strong communication skills, providing independent challenge and opinions in a positive manner to influence change
  • Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • A competent analyst; naturally analytical and a logical approach
  • Be seen as a problem solver, committed to continuous improvement
  • Business partnership – can build strong working relationships at all levels

Desirable:

  • Can demonstrate experience gained from a project risk management setting
  • Hold a certificate in Risk Management or a related discipline
