Security Officer - Folkestone

Job Introduction

The post holder will be part of the Security Team and ensuring that the site runs safely, securely and in accordance with the requirements of the business and internal customers. 

The active participation as part of the Security Team is essential to the smooth operation of the Saga Business and requires a keen eye for detail, a sound ability to undertake the logistics and processes of the security function and be part of a 24 hour operation on a shift basis. 

The post holder will ensure that best practice is followed for all security work undertaken, management and standing instructions are followed and that they work closely with the rest of the Facilities Management team. The post holder, along with the rest of the team are ambassadors for the company and will be expected to maintain a high level of customer satisfaction.

Role Responsibility

  • Responsible for undertaking routine and daily duties and safety checks as required
  • Undertaking the reception function for the building ensuring the consistent high level of customer service
  • Taking ownership for personal ongoing training and development
  • Attending and contributing to regular one-to-ones, team meetings and six monthly Performance Management Reviews (appraisals) with team leader/colleagues as appropriate
  • Responsible for reporting to the Security Team Leader any instances of theft , inefficient use of resources or breaches of security procedures/system use
  • Responsibility for the receiving, handling and delivering of goods that arrive at the site
  • Responsibility for onsite traffic control and parking facilities on a daily basis and on special events
  • Completion of effective regular daily/nightly internal and external patrols
  • Undertaking health and safety checks
  • Incident management and rescue of those who become stuck in lifts
  • Attend, report and effectively oversee all first aid incidents
  • Undertaking the building incident controller role for fire evacuations and assisting with system testing and maintenance when required
  • Be responsible for the receipt and recording of all lost property from within Saga buildings ensuring that items wherever possible are returned to the appropriate person(s)
  • Responsible for the cleanliness, presentation, safety and efficiency of all security and reception areas
  • Responsible for the oversight of housekeeping, maintenance and health and safety issues in the building and grounds ensuring faults and problems are correctly reported, tracked and remediated promptly through the FM help desk or by escalation to the relevant business manager
  • Be available to transport (drive) other personnel within the company on occasion when required
  • Correctly administer the work permit process for third parties coming onto site
  • Effectively manage day to day problems and significant incidences when they arise
  • Able to work on confidential projects and investigations as directed by management with absolute discretion
  • Carry out ad hoc projects and tasks as directed by management

The Ideal Candidate

Capability, Knowledge and Experience:

  • Demonstrable competence in being part of a small teams
  • Demonstrable competence in being part of an active security function
  • Good PC literacy, in particular Lotus Notes, MS Office and security management systems
  • Good knowledge and understanding of CCTV systems
  • Good literacy and numeracy skills
  • General understanding of relevant legislation for security operations

Education and Qualifications:

  • Full driving licence
  • Good general level of education to GCSE level
  • SIA qualification desirable
