Self-Employed Tour Manager - Spain (September 2018 Departures)

Job Introduction

The main priority of a Tour Manager is to ensure that Saga customers enjoy their holiday and that everything runs as smoothly as possible for them. You are responsible for ensuring our customers receive the itinerary as detailed in the brochure. As the public face of Saga, you must create an excellent first impression and continue to provide outstanding service to our holidaymakers throughout their tour.  Each customer has individual needs and as the Tour Manager, you need to react to these needs to deliver a tailored holiday experience to each customer. 

 

We currently have a vacancy on a tour which visits Catalonia region between the periods (16/9 – 25/9).  Please only apply if you are available during this period.

Role Responsibility

  • Ensure the itinerary runs as advertised.
  • Meet and greet customers at arrival point
  • Re-confirming accommodation en route.
  • Porterage arrangements.
  • Prepare and deliver welcome meetings.
  • Excursion sales (where applicable).
  • Safety and cleanliness of coach (ensuring driver complies with these requirements), completion of coach safety checklist.
  • Ensure PA system is working on coach used.
  • Enforce company no smoking policy and seat rotation.
  • Research itinerary.
  • Provide commentary en route.
  • Inform customers of currency changes, immigrations/custom and excise.
  • Guiding of excursions (if applicable).
  • Confirming guides/bookings.
  • Re-confirm flight tickets/departures and return train and coach tickets.
  • Report Writing (liaising with Head Office on issues that may arise on tour).
  • Sales/Expenditure Accounting.
  • Ensure that the company logo is displayed at all times on the coach.
  • Organise and be present at evening activities as and when specified or when necessary.
  • Deal with customer illness, death, repatriation and liaison with assistance company and Head Office.
  • Complete health and safety verification if required
  • Manage hotel quality, including liaison with hotel managers where necessary.

Capability, Knowledge and Experience:

  • Prior Tour Manager experience
  • Administration Experience
  • Front line Customer Service
  • Sales experience
  • Commercially minded including experience of accounts, commission & expenses
  • Ability to carry out destination research
  • Ability to make considered decisions
  • Problem solving
  • Negotiation skills on behalf of the customer and company
  • Excellent time management
  • Excellent communicator, both verbally and written
  • Excellent IT skills, Word, Excel and Email

Education and Qualifications:

  • A qualification in Tour Management
  • Licensed Guiding Certificates
  • Conversational language skills (Spanish)

Package Description

  • Self-Employed Contract
  • £86 or €101.44 per day, plus optional excursion commission
