Senior Compliance Manager *FTC Until September 2026*

Job Introduction

Senior Compliance Manager

Salary: £75,000 - £85,000 per annum dependent on experience

Fixed Term Contract until 1 September 2027

London/Kent Hybrid

At Saga, we’re committed to delivering exceptional products and services for our customers while maintaining the highest standards of governance, integrity and regulatory compliance.

We are now looking for an experienced Senior Compliance Manager to join our dynamic Advisory team on a fixed-term basis through to September 2027. This is an exciting opportunity for a senior compliance professional who thrives on variety, enjoys partnering with senior stakeholders and wants to play a key role in shaping business decisions within a highly regulated financial services environment.

The Compliance Advisory team plays a critical role in safeguarding and enabling the wider business to deliver its strategic objectives in a compliant, risk-aware and customer-focused way.

Acting as a Business Partner, you’ll report directly to the Head of Compliance, and will work closely with senior leaders across the organisation, supporting complex regulatory matters, providing strategic compliance guidance and helping ensure the business continues to operate to the highest regulatory standards.

No two days are the same. The team oversees all aspects of conduct regulation across two regulated firms and three Appointed Representatives, creating an environment that is fast-paced, intellectually stimulating and highly collaborative.

We work in a hybrid way at Saga, both at home and in the office. This role offers significant flexibility, with the team typically coming together in person at least once per month for collaboration in either London or Folkestone.

Role Responsibility

As our Senior Compliance Manager you will be responsible for advising the business on identifying, managing and mitigating compliance risks, including implementing effective controls.

Other accountabilities will include:

•    Building and maintaining strong relationships with senior stakeholders, executives and external partners.

•    Providing commercially focused advice across a broad range of regulatory and conduct matters.

•    Supporting the development and maintenance of positive regulatory relationships, including high-quality and timely regulatory reporting.

•    Acting as a subject matter expert across all areas of regulatory compliance and developing internal training programmes.

•    Leading horizon scanning activity, ensuring the business remains informed of regulatory and legislative developments.

•    Providing regulatory oversight and strategic input into business change initiatives led by the first line.

•    Interpreting and advising on financial crime obligations across Saga’s financial services businesses.

•    Mentoring colleagues within the compliance team and wider risk function, helping develop capability and expertise.

•    Acting as a trusted advisor to the Compliance Assurance team.

•    Deputising for the Head of Compliance when required.

The Ideal Candidate

We’re looking for an experienced compliance professional who has developed deep expertise within the insurance sector and is confident operating at a senior level within a regulated environment.

Ideally, you will hold a relevant professional qualification such as a CII Certificate or equivalent.

You will bring:

•    Strong working knowledge of Financial Conduct Authority regulatory requirements, with exposure to Jersey regulation being advantageous.

•    Significant experience within the insurance or financial services sector.

•    The ability to mentor, develop and support colleagues across teams.

•    Experience independently managing a varied portfolio of work while maintaining exceptional quality under tight deadlines.

•    Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex regulatory issues for non-technical audiences.

•    Strong analytical and problem-solving capability, with a naturally inquisitive and methodical mindset.

•    The ability to quickly understand unfamiliar business models, products and processes and assess regulatory implications.

•    Confidence challenging senior stakeholders constructively and influencing decision-making.

•    Excellent judgement and the ability to identify key risks and propose practical, proportionate solutions.

•    A strong understanding of risk management, controls and materiality.

•    Unwavering integrity, discretion and commitment to confidentiality.
