This role is an important part of the  Business Development team who strive to facilitate, to help and support the Operations function of the business.

The Senior Operations Manager is responsible for leading the programme office for Saga Personal Finance and being the Project Lead on all major SPF strategic initiatives.

The Senior Operations Development Manager is critical to leading the programme and project management to ensure delivery.

Role Responsibility

  • To lead programme and project management for SPF
  • To facilitate the implementation of strategic SPF developments, initiate and implement business improvements
  • To identify best practice, design solutions and facilitate the implementation/integration of those solutions within SPF and the broader Saga group
  • To x-functional lead a project team comprising both Saga and strategic partner representatives
  • To manage strategic partner relationships to deliver the SPF strategy
  • To create and maintain good working relationships with SPF leadership, Group business sponsors and leadership to ensure SPF are appropriately represented on group projects
  • To proactively participate in group forums and actively manage internal relationships where business transformation is led – Change Office, Services Operations, Membership etc
  • To communicate across all levels to enable clear understanding of the strategy and purpose behind projects and change, thus helping to mitigate against the natural resistance to change
  • To promote the activities of SPF to encourage requests for their participation and help in identifying improvement
  • To effectively manage team members and resources, including third parties and suppliers, always maintaining an excellent level of service and ensuring project delivery to budget and time
  • To select and balance project team members, illustrating a keen sense of project delivery need against available skill set and developmental needs
  • To continually look to improve aspects of SPF strategy and project delivery and manage projects and resources such that demonstrable continuous improvement is achieved across all elements of process and output
  • Member of SPF leadership team
  • Develop successful working relationships across SPF potential (and existing) business partners to ensure the delivery of business plans
  • To ensure that all programmes and activities relating to them meet all regulatory, compliance and internal audit requirements, having due regard for relevant statutory authorities and requirements – e.g. FSA, OFT, Consumer Credit Act

The Ideal Candidate

Capability, Knowledge and Experience:

  • Management experience in business development in a FS environment
  • Is customer led and demonstrates a passion for service and sales excellence, results orientated with strong interpersonal skills
  • Proven ability of programme & project delivery both x-functionally and through external strategic partners
  • Recognised as a leader who can readily adapt to and implement change in processes, procedures and organisational structure
  • Good knowledge of Financial Services legal, regulatory and compliance dynamics
  • Experience of identifying, evaluating and introducing Business development initiatives specifically as they relate to Saga’s customer demographic
  • Understanding of the Commercial, Service, Sales, Marketing and Product relationship

Education and Qualifications:

  • Good standard of education
  • Project management qualification desirable

Personal Characteristics:

  • High impact and self-motivation, able to manage productive relationships with internal and external peers at all levels - proven interpersonal skills
