Senior Pricing Analyst

And right now, we are looking for an experienced Senior level Pricing Analyst to provide SME support, analysis and guidance to the business, with a focus from day 1 on the migration of pricing processed and data onto the new Guidewire/Snowflake platforms. We need someone who can hit the ground running!

You will also lead pricing projects and provide assurance to the business through your knowledge, your attention to detail and your finely honed critical thinking skills. You will also prepare data for analysis, support a variety of ad hoc business requests, and deliver high quality work within a highly regulated environment.

Additionally, you will model, interpret and monitor business data to identify and confirm market trends, product opportunities and new / changing rating factors, assist in development of pricing models for deployment to the rating system and ensure adherence to pricing fairness rules and data usage policies

Role Responsibility

  • Provide SME pricing support to the pricing and migration teams to drive forward successful platform migration.
  • Proactively use data to identify areas of opportunity to drive commercial value and competitive advantage, delivering profitable growth for Saga’s insurance business.
  • Provide pricing thought leadership using your experience of insurance pricing and data.
  • Provide subject matter expert support in your areas of expertise on strategic projects.
  • Make recommendations based on your analysis.
  • Mine, extract and interpret data to bring out insights, using cutting edge techniques, including machine learning.
  • Monitor and assess impact of changes post implementation and proactively recommend amendments to flag where further investigation and action is needed.
  • Develop an excellent relationship with our in-house underwriter, including working on joint insurance initiatives to enhance group value.
  • Pricing support for business change initiatives.
  • Respond to pricing queries from various business areas; looking for common themes and root causes which can be addressed in future pricing models.
  • Represent the needs of the pricing department in business change programmes as required.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Proven track record of several years minimum in general insurance pricing, including pricing tariff and data processing design and implementation.
  • Systems migration experience desirable.
  • B grade (or above) A-Level maths, statistics or equivalent.
  • Experience of programming languages such as SQL and R.
  • Knowledge of Radar, Emblem or similar systems is preferable, but not essential.
  • Pricing Project Management.
  • Logical thinker
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to assimilate information from various sources in order to form and prove hypotheses.
  • Numerical reasoning skills; be able to explain observed trends in data with logical argument
