…And right now, we are looking for a Senior Pricing Manager to join our AICL underwriting business at an exciting time in Saga’s history. Role Responsibility

  • Leading projects and analysis within the department
  • Recommend changes to net rating structures in order to help AICL deliver improved net rates or profitable footprint expansion whilst achieving loss ratio targets
  • Project work is likely to form a significant part of the role, and will require accurate, complete and timely delivery
  • Develop relationships with wider AICL teams (UW, Finance and Claims), and other Saga business areas to enhance knowledge sharing, efficiency and productivity
  • Provide input into underwriting and pricing management information and perform ad-hoc analysis to help inform key business decisions
  • Develop understanding of Reserving and Solvency 2, including underlying principles, and assist in practical delivery of internal and regulatory reporting
  • Manage any risks or controls delegated to this position as detailed in the relevant risk registers, in line with the business's risk policy
  • If relevant, take exams and work towards actuarial qualification, ensuring the target number of exams passed is met each year

 

The Ideal Candidate

Capability, Knowledge and Experience:

  • Experience of programming languages such as SQL, VBA and R
  • Experienced with ResQ and Emblem or similar systems
  • Detailed knowledge of general insurance pricing processes and methodologies
  • Keen interest and understanding of multi-variate analysis techniques
  • Knowledge of new and emerging data analytics methods/tools with a proven desire to embrace and challenge those techniques

Education and Qualifications:

  • Actuarial qualification or close to qualifying

  • Strong numerical and statistical capabilities
  • Excellent oral and written communication skill
  • Comfortable working with large quantities of data
  • Proactive, with a strong desire to learn and pass learnings on to the team
  • Enthusiastic and self-motivated.  Actively motivates others to win
  • Strong organisational skills, e.g. time management, documentation etc
  • Team player, e.g. demonstrated by helping peers/department to achieve tasks when deadline is tight. Is happy working extended hours to meet business needs
  • Dependable and reliable, e.g. will perform or give update on progress as required on assigned task without needing follow up
