At Saga, we are looking for a Solutions Architect to join our our Insurance business. 

You will be responsible for the creation and governance of solution designs that are to the highest standard considering cost, security, performance and strategic alignment.

Reporting to the Enterprise Architect you will identify requirements, design and delivery of technology solutions across the Saga Insurance business unit.

Collaboration is important to us at Saga, and our Insurance Technology team typically come together every month at our hub in London.

Role Responsibility

As our Solutions Architect you will input to and be responsible for the maintenance of IT governance and policy. You will support the communication and adoption within our Insurance business.

You will be accountable for the following areas: 

  • Contribution to and implementation of architectural and design standards which encompass reliability, cost, performance and operational excellence.
  • Assisting with the identification and discovery of existing designs including infrastructure, application & interactions and the analysis of functional and non-functional requirements for proposed design updates and improvements.
  • Creating cost-effective designs which address insurance business requirements now and in the future.
  • Proactive collaboration with managers, analysts and architects across the Saga enterprise
  • Liaison and design guidance for internal technical teams and 3rd party service providers
  • Input to and creation of product and DEV/OPS tooling roadmaps including awareness of emergent technologies
  • Cloud and DevSecOps design preferably Microsoft AZURE and/or AWS   
  • Liaison with multidisciplinary (e.g; finance and operations) teams as an integral part of the solution design and approval process, to agreed timescales and quality standards

The Ideal Candidate

Our ideal Solutions Architect would be skilled in platform design, deployment and integration. Whilst experience within the Insurance industry would be desirable, we are open to considering applicants with experience in other regulated environments.

Other skills and experience required include: 

  • Track record of delivering quality technical designs on-time and to the appropriate level of detail and quality
  • Non-functional requirements analysis and design
  • Technical analysis of complex systems
  • Cloud WAF and cloud design best practice
  • Integration patterns and technologies including API and messaging
  • Any exposure to EA frameworks including TOGAF
  • Any exposure to DEVOPS tooling including Jenkins
  • Design of policy and claims platforms and associated BI/MI and Analytics
  • Design which includes databases for example Oracle, SQL Server, Cassandra or Aurora
  • Liaison with multiple customers and stakeholders
  • Understanding risk associated with systems and design
  • Working with multiple solution designs simultaneously at various stages in life-cycle
  • Creation of technical solution designs based on customer requirements and existing systems landscape
  • Design governance as author and critique
