As Technical Hotel Superintendent, you’ll play a key role in supporting the Hotel Operations Director to deliver a first class hotel operation to our customers. You’ll be integral to ensuring that each and every one of our customers experiences the high standards of quality and service that they’ve come to expect from us.

You’ll be responsible for planning, implementing and supervising our ship support functions, risk management, facilities maintenance, refits and on board works and ensuring that we retain our reputation for providing the best cruises in the business.

You'll bring a technical buying background with strong cruise industry experience. You'll have a 'hands on' approach and be able to source new equipment, liaising with various suppliers.

Role Responsibility

  • Ownership of all ship support, risk management and maintenance of Brand standards on-board
  • Provide world class facilities maintenance support working closely with the on-board teams and Managers ashore
  • Provide expertise and guidance, viable solutions and corrective actions to address issues on-board
  • Planning, preparation, coordination and project management for ship refits, dry and wet docks within the Hotel area
  • Provide data and support for future strategy planning of facilities across the Spirit fleet
  • Project management of all works completed on-board
  • Asset management plan for major hotel and facilities assets
  • Providing assistance, guidance and support to the senior team within Saga Cruises and deputizing for the Hotel Operations Director where required

The Ideal Candidate

Capability, Knowledge and Experience:

  • A talented senior manager, preferably with a proven track record of working in the cruise industry, either on or off shore
  • Demonstrable experience in budget management
  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills
  • Externally referenced and focussed on continuously seeking professional development – to ensure that Saga’s approach to hotel operations is both relevant and future proof
  • Project management experience an advantage
  • Commercially minded with strong business acumen
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Demonstrable IT proficiency (Fidelio preferred, Microsoft Office essential)
  • A strong people manager, who is able to lead and influence a diverse and remote work-force.

Education and Qualifications:

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent, or qualified by experience
