As our Test Lead, you will own testing capabilities for the Saga Insurance team.
Following Saga’s recent announcement to partner with Ageas in early 2026, you will be responsible for delivering best-in-class quality assurance testing capability for our systems and services across insurance as we move towards the go-live of our new affinity partnership.
You will be responsible for the ownership of testing within the software development lifecycle, with accountability for the testing and quality assurance of applications across the insurance ecosystem.
We offer flexibility over where you work – you choose a place where you feel most comfortable and productive, either from home or in one of our hubs. There will be an occasional need to collaborate for workshops in person in London or the South East.
Role Responsibility
As Test Lead you will lead a team of people and processes within a business area to deliver world class quality assurance testing capability for our systems and services across insurance. I do this through excellent delivery and strategic focus with specific emphasis on automation, best practice and colleague leadership.
You will be responsible for the ownership of testing within the software development lifecycle with the accountability for the testing and quality assurance of applications across the insurance ecosystem
Other accountabilities will include:
• Implementation and improvement of quality assurance standards across a diverse range of enterprise platforms and services including those with regulatory requirements
• Lead the programme QA function supporting the step change in capability and accountability for testing within the delivery lifecycle, aligning with relevant technology and business units where required.
• Creation, definition and ownership of a QA strategy and approach in support of the DevOps and Agile development principles covering functional and non-functional test areas.
• Coordination and accountability for control practices in relation to testing.
• Shared oOwnership of the testing of technology deliveries to confirm quality conformance to specifications and quality deliverables.
• Supporting risk controls and input into overall risk and incident management processes across the quality assurance landscape.
• Working collaboratively with project management and Technology professionals to ensure business requirements and deadlines are met.
• Leading innovative solutions to reduce manual testing requirements and driving efficiencies in the testing and software development lifecycle.
• Working with third party development teams and solution providers. Actively support QA requirements through root cause and incident management processes across insurance.
• Supporting the delivery of technology programmes, projects and workstreams to agreed time, cost, and quality criteria.
• Understanding and assessing application/project risks and apply plans and methods to mitigate.
• Providing technical expertise and colleague mentoring to the QA and business community.
• Ensuring that testing is delivered in line with the requirements from internal and external regulatory bodies including the adherence to cyber security controls and frameworks.
• Create and deliver to a testing plan which aligns to key programme milestones, calling out delays and risks where they exist
• Track and mange progress to plan, reporting into programme leadership
The Ideal Candidate
As a Test Lead, it is essential that you have a technical background and experience working in a QA Lead position.
Experience of testing in the financial services sector would be of distinct advantage.
Other skills and experience required include:
• Track record of successful test management frameworks
• and practices
• Proven experience of colleague management and coaching.
