Travel & Enterprise Risk Manager

And right now, we are looking for a Travel & Enterprise Risk Manager to join our Enterprise Risk team at an exciting time in Saga’s history. As a Group, Saga is taking to the seas in our brand new, luxury cruise ships and leading the market with innovative insurance and financial products.  

Within this role you will support the Head of Enterprise Risk and lead as required in the design, implementation, and oversight of the enterprise risk management framework for the Saga Cruises and Holidays business units and key parts of the Enterprise function.

You will have a high level of marine regulatory knowledge, product knowledge, and commitment to risk and safety management in addition to broader risk management expertise, particularly operational risk.

Role Responsibility

  • Supporting, and leading where required, the design, implementation and oversight of the enterprise risk management framework for the Saga Cruises and Holidays business units and key parts of the Enterprise function.
  • As part of the above, to monitor and oversee the efficiency and effectiveness of the incident management, risk assessment and controls self-assessment frameworks, that forms a critical part of the overall risk management framework.
  • Ensuring that Board approved risk appetite statements with supporting KRIs are regularly reviewed, updated and reported on.
  • Ensuring the Saga cruises and Holidays business units capture loss data in accordance with Risk Policies to help inform the decision-making process concerning cost effective loss mitigation strategies.
  • Identifying, developing and deploying appropriate risk management tools, techniques and strategies to ensure risk management across the Cruises and Holidays business units and the Enterprise function is value adding and contributes towards the overall strategy and performance of the business.
  • Actively promoting a risk culture that encourages appropriate risk taking, aligned to strategy and risk appetite, with effective and timely response to risk events according to the risk they present to the business.
  • Ensuring Saga Cruises, Holidays and Enterprise function management have a sound understanding of the Enterprise Risk Management System through formal training, informal discussion, online tools, policies and guidance documents.
  • Providing 2LOD review and challenge of 1st line risk reporting.
  • Leading and supporting the completion of independent 2nd line risk reviews of key projects, new products or services and material business change.
  • Attend Cruises and Travel Boards, leading on production and presenting of Risk Board Papers
  • Supporting the monitoring of industry trends to benchmark ERM and track external best practices relevant for the Saga Cruises and Holidays business units.

The Ideal Candidate

Experience:

  • Risk management qualification highly desirable
  • At least 5 years relevant industry risk management experience with a broad business background
  • Proven track record of working across all management levels to deliver the risk agenda
  • Thorough understanding of preparation of Risk Management Information
  • Marine and cruise industry experience preferably as a seafarer and/or auditing experience.
  • Working knowledge of the Maritime Labour Convention (MLC) and MARPOL regulations.
